Break and Enter in Progress
Police responded to a report of an interrupted residential Break and Enter in progress in the 300 block of Sherbrooke St. A witness reported that there were 3 unknown male suspects in and around a grey four door sedan at the rear of his residence. He saw the car again at another location with one of the males standing watch. He then saw 3 males run to the vehicle from a residence on Sherbrooke St and flee the area. The police were called and area patrols for the suspect vehicle were negative, however due to the observations by the witness, including a vehicle licence plate, the police investigation continues. The home owner was contacted and it was determined that nothing was missing however damage was noted to the front door.
Break and Enter in Progress
At 0420 a.m. police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 blk of Ginger Drive for a report of a Break and Enter in progress. One of the occupants awoke to sounds coming from his main level and when he went to investigate he found his patio door breached and a number of items strewn about the house. The suspect(s) had fled prior to police attendance. A number of Young Offenders were later arrested in Surrey in possession of property stolen from the Break and Enter.
No insurance/Fail to comply x2/ possession of stolen property and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card
A routine vehicle traffic check revealed a driver who was previously known to the investigating officer. This driver/suspect had conditions not to possess credit cards in other peoples names. In plain view the officer noted credit cards at the suspects feet as such he was arrested for fail to comply and possess stolen credit cards. The passenger was also found to be on bail with conditions not to be in a vehicle without the registered owner present or written permission. The passenger was arrested for breach of probation. As a result of the arrests the suspects were held in custody for court.
Stolen Vehicles
The NWPS made 3 stolen vehicle arrests in March. Each of these incidents occurred during night shifts. Two of these arrests occurred after the suspects had crashed the stolen vehicle and fled on foot, only to be tracked and located by a police dog. The third event resulted from the observations of a police officer who determined through a licence plate query that the vehicle was stolen. The driver was arrested for possession of the stolen vehicle as well as Impaired Driving and Driver Over the Legal Limit .08.
Pizza Robbery
At approximately 0215 hours, the driver for a Pizza Restaurant in Burnaby was making a delivery to an apartment on Royal Avenue. As the driver approached the front of the building a male called to him from the side of the building, stating he was the person who had placed the order and asking the driver to come around the corner.
When the driver walked around the side of the building he was assaulted and robbed.
The suite which the delivery was destined for does not exist and the call-back number obtained when the order was placed belongs to an innocent third party. NWPS Crime Prevention section has been requested to communicate to local pizza outlets advising them of this occurrence, and to remind them of the importance of confirming orders on call-back.

Home Invasion
Police responded to a report of a home invasion at an apartment in the 400 block of 8th Street. The victim reported that three males tried to kick in his door. One of the males was in possession of a rifle according to a neighbour looking through his peep hole. This investigation relates to an earlier home invasion (NWPS file: 2010-2476) at a different apartment in the same building. Major Crime Detectives have been able to determine that the victim in this file used to live in the suite associated to the earlier file. The investigation continues.
MAJOR CRIME INVESTIGATION UPDATES
Assault with a weapon
In July of 2009, a group of Queensborough youths swarmed another group. A female had a gun held to her head and was threatened with being killed and “raped” if she did not disclose the whereabouts of her boyfriend, who had run from the scene. Major Crime Detectives conducted nine custodial interviews over the course of the weekend along with the execution of a search warrant and recovery of weapons used during the commission of this offence.
UPDATE
The main offender, Joshua TOLOSA, has pled guilty to Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Weapon and Using an Imitation Firearm in the Commission of an Offence. He will be sentenced later in the year.
Forcable confinement
The New Westminster Police responded to a report of a man with a gun assaulting a female. Upon arrival police determined that the male suspect had fled in a vehicle. The victims reported that they were partying in their residence and being loud. The suspect, who lived upstairs, told them to be quiet. The victims continued to make noise which caused the suspect to break into their basement suite and threaten the victims with a handgun. The suspect has been identified and charges have been approved. The suspect is still at large with an outstanding warrant for numerous charges including, assault with weapon and forcible confinement. The suspect has been contacted and has stated that he planned to surrender himself to police.
UPDATE
The suspect in this case turned himself in and he was subsequently interviewed and transported to Court. The suspect was remanded in custody until his trial in August of this year.
