New Westminster Police Conduct In-Custody Death Investigation

The New Westminster Police Service is continuing their investigation into the in-custody death of a 39 year old male that occurred on May 28, 2010, in Penticton, B.C.

While initial and preliminary accounts were released stating the deceased, after being examined by EHS attendants, was walking towards the police vehicle in handcuffs when he collapsed, the investigation continues in order to determine the actual sequence of events, along with any other possible contributing factors.

The assigned investigators have now been able to interview numerous witnesses who have provided their observations, as they continue to gather all evidence related to this incident.

The New Westminster Police Service was contacted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to conduct an investigation regarding an in-custody death that occurred in Penticton British Columbia on Friday, May 29th.

Police officers from the New Westminster Police Criminal Investigations Section travelled to Penticton late Friday afternoon to conduct the investigation. It is anticipated that investigators will remain on scene for several days interviewing witnesses. 

 

 

Train Fatality

The New Westminster Police and the CN Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at Begbie St and Quayside Drive this evening. At approximately 1830 hrs, a witness watched the train go through the intersection and once it passed, observed a body on the tracks.

The victim is a 56 year old male from the lower mainland, his identity is being withheld as the family have yet to be notified.
