Each year NWPS Block Watch encourages all community members to participate and celebrate their Safe Community by hosting a Block Party/Annual Meeting. This event provides an opportunity for communities to promote, support and celebrate local efforts to prevent crime and keep their neighbourhoods safe. Your event should take place between May 21th, 2010 and September 20th, 2010, and must include a crime prevention/reduction element. Police can attend your event and present a Crime Prevention topic of your choice. Be sure to contact the Block Watch office to arrange a time for us to attend and please give as much notice as possible for the event.
The Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General has made available funding for grants of $50 in support of the Safe Community Day celebration. A Grant application form and an Evaluation form can be found at www.blockwatch.com/awards/safecommunities.aspx. Please note the first application review for approval will take place April 12, 2010, followed by May 14, 2010. (May 14th will be the last day we are accepting applications). All completed forms should be submitted to the Block Watch Society of British Columbia. You will be advised if your event will qualify for a grant. Your event should be held between May 21st, 2010 and September 20th, 2010. To receive your Grant payment, please submit your Evaluation form promptly after your event. Please remember, no cheques will be mailed until the Evaluation form has been received by the Society. If for any reason you cannot commit to the dates indicated Block Watch must be notified in advance for approval.
